About A la Carte
A la Carte is a full-service culinary center designed to teach cooking to the public as well as perform many other food-related functions for the trade. It is a state-of-the-art kitchen facility located in the newly refurbished main shopping district of the village of Lynbrook, New York. Ample parking is available and it is easily accessible to all areas by train.

There are two teaching/meeting areas with four cooking areas. The center has been designed to include a studio conducive to shooting cooking videos as well as still photography. Culinary Services including:
  • Cooking Classes, in three categories:
    1) General, 2) Specialty and
    3) Parties
  • Kids Cooking Classes (ages 8+) including a comprehensive Summer Culinary Arts Preliminary Series (C.A.P.S.)
  • Executive Team Building Cooking Classes
  • Test Kitchens designed to test and/or develop recipes for packaging, brochures, books or advertising
  • Shooting cooking videos
  • Still photography; videography
  • Food styling and consulting

Let us demonstrate how an A la Carte cooking class is an effective and enjoyable team building event. Or, reserve a date and bring your friends for a fun night of cooking and eating. Help plan the menu if you like or leave it to us. This is a great way to enjoy being with friends or celebrate that special occasion in a casual atmosphere without the stress of home entertaining. Polly Talbott
Director/Owner
Polly Talbott is a Certified Culinary Professional with a degree in Home Economics. A food stylist and consultant, her background includes restaurants, corporate and editorial test kitchens, and new product development. She has studied cooking in France, Italy, Spain and New York. A member of the International Association of Culinary Professionals, the New York Women's Culinary Alliance, and Les Dames d'Escoffier, Polly also serves on the Board of Directors as the Immediate Past President of the Lynbrook Chamber of Commerce. She is also the on-camera personality for Lynbrook's Channel 20.

Our school is structured to teach recreational culinary arts to men, women, children, couples, senior citizens, as well as provide a team-building activity for business executives. Our mission is to help people gain more understanding, and ultimately satisfaction, by enjoying the rewards and pleasures of cooking and eating good food - a service that is welcome in everyone's life.

Designed to test and/or develop recipes for packaging, brochures, cookbooks, and advertising. Our fully functional, state-of-the-art kitchen is perfect for still photography or as a film location.

 

Our Staff
Our Staff ... all experts at what they do! Suzy Szalai is my right (and sometimes left) hand. She keeps us organized and all of you in the right classes. Gaetano Bravata, a CIA graduate, is my new assistant Kitchen Director. Our talented teachers include: Nina Lipton, Tim McDonald, Joe Bonano, Angie Troci, Felix Ristuccia, Annie Bailey, Barbara Caporaso, John Marino. Our tireless assistants: Donna LaChianna Mehr, Chris Casalo, Linda Maldonado and Bari Leistner ... are amazing. Our web designer, Suzi Schwam. A la Carte just wouldn't be the same without them.
